Ambiguously Disgruntled Manifesto

wasting your time since 1975

3/12/2008

a copy of the email I sent to my state representatives:

Rather than seize on a wonderful opportunity to not only preserve a 41-year history of professional basketball in Seattle but also solve the "elephant in the room" problem of what to do with Key Arena, the inept elected officials of our state government have instead chosen to display the worst traits of political "leadership," or more appropriately, lack thereof. Thank you, esteemed members of the State Legislature, for re-iterating my cynical suspicion that representative democracy and Government don't really work. When I try to explain to the next generation why a vibrant, culturally diverse and economically strong region lost it's NBA team to a relative backwater town, I'll be sure to list "Legislative Impotence" as the number one reason.

I am a lifelong Democrat and have never voted for a Republican for any state or federal representative or executive office, and I must say I am looking forward anxiously for a chance to vote out Christine Gregoire this fall (my support for Rossi was sealed with today's P.I. article). As for the three of you, particularly Mr. Chopp -- while you may be "protected" by this blue of blue district -- I can only hope that one day, some day, this appalling lack of leadership comes back to haunt you.
