as a public service to my readers, I would like to correct a growing concern over word choice that has been annoying me lately.
I have heard a lot of people use "ambivalent" when describing their lack of feeling or caring for an activity or idea. I think that the appropriate word to use here is "apathy," which is most simply described as "indifference." The opposite of love is not hate, but apathy -- aka a lack of definitive emotion; as conversely the opposite of hate is not love but also apathy. "Ambivalence" is best defined as being a state of uncertainty, fluctuation, or conflict. Within ambivalence is the feeling of both love and hate (like when you describe something as the "such and such I love to hate -- or hate to love").
next up, I correct everyone on saying "I could care less," which is saying that you care about something... its supposed to be "I COULDN'T care less" ... dammit!
