Ambiguously Disgruntled Manifesto

wasting your time since 1975

life goes on, another day, same old shit, blah blah blah...

...actually its not that bad. After a half-assed day at work yesterday, today was one of those days I had that tiptoes along the line between "easy" and "mind-numblingly boring." If I had had to do it much longer, or faced the prospect of doing it every day, I'd certainly be unhappy about it. Tomorrow is looking like maybe another half-assed-type day, hopefully not dreadfully boring, but I certainly dont want to have to work hard either... HA!

Last night I actually played well for the first tiome in a while in my indoor soccer game, but for a couple defensive lapses I was heinously guilty of. Oh, but the Game is a cruel bitch, she is, as we lost 10-9. It was an interesting game, we fell down 5-0, fought back to 5-4, had it tied at 8-8 before giving up a couple of quick, late goals, then got one back with seconds remaing, then had a free kick from the "red line" (think the blue line in hockey) with seconds left.

Lingering soreness in my legs, along with the nice thingh bruise right above my knee, kept me to a truncated version of my stair workout this afternoon/evening. Normally I would try to do stairs on a Monday or Friday, depending, but this week is Different. At least I did something.

I've been watching a bit of the NHL playoffs, and in the shock of the year so far, the Mighty Sucks of Anaheim SWEPT the defending Stanley Cup Champs Detroit Red Wings last night. I watched much of the 2nd and 3rd periods, including the OT. My favorite national sports broadcasting duo, Gary Thorne and Bill Clement, were up to their usual postseason standards calling the game. Good stuff. Even though I've been a bit of a quasi-bandwagon Red Wings fan for about 9 years now, I'm not all that disappointed they've lost. I've been thinking all year that their time is done now, and I'd like to see some new blood. That goes for the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche as well, although I guess I could stand to see the Stars win it all (I have a soft spot for Mike Madano, he's just a great player). I do feel bad for CuJo (Detroit goalie Curtis Joseph), who I've been a bit of a fan of for years now. I would have liked to see him win the Cup, al'la Hasek last year. I don't want to talk about the Canucks right now, who face elimination tomorrow night against St. Louis.

the 'Rents and the Aunt took me out for my official "birthday dinner" (even though my b-day was friday) tonight. I chose the just opened Elysian Brewing Company's Tangletown Pub, on 55th and Meridian (near Green Lake). Yummy! Best beer in town. That's right, best damn beer in town... and now its withing Walking distance (a bit of one, but walking no less) of The House! There just may be a god after all...

I'm tired... Monday nights are Supposed to be weight lifting, but we got back about 7, when we usually start, and I was full of food and two fine beers (an cask-conditioned IPA and the legendary Valkyrie Strong Ale) so I didn't lift... but I'm also Very Tired. I didn't sleep well last night after a weekend of Partying like I was two years away from Doom. I'm just tired, I might go to bed soon... I'm old and lame...

The CaSucks lost, falling behind St. Louis 2-1 in the best-of-seven first round series, I'm kinda glad I didn't see the game...

the "three-oh minus two" pictures are up
They are not edited, and the ones that need to be rotated haven't been rotated... it may be because I'm lazy, or just haven't had a chance yet... whatever. I plan on making an actual "album" with captions, just like I did for my Colorado trip... oh yeah, I haven't done that yet either.

If it is possible to have too good a weekend, then I had one, and I certainly hope everyone else did to. It just Really sucks to go back to that dreary working existence after that... so maybe I'll quit my job or something... umm hmmm...

What more can I say about this fabulous weekend past... I'll let y'all say it, using the handy comment feature...

Oh yeah, props to the "chicks from across the street" for schooling us at "beach football." There WILL be a rematch... someday...
