...the motivation to go running just hasn't been there the last week or so, and seeing as how I am on a bit of a sabbatical from playing soccer on Sundays (my return is set for the 23rd) I probably need to get some good workouts in more than ever...

My solution, and my workout of choice now 3 times since last Tuesday, is to go run stairs. Howe Street, from Lakeview Blvd up Capitol Hill, is the location. It is 13 flights of stairs, at 20, plus or minus a couple, per flight. After the first 9 flights, the stairs have a short gap where the "road" crosses a residential street, then it is another 4 flights up to a cul-de-sac which comes off of 10 Ave, which eventually turns into Broadway further south.

The usual method by which I approach it is this: starting from the bottom, I walk/jog all the way to the top, alternating between every step for a flight, then 2 steps at a time for a flight. Then, I walk/jog down to the residential street, and sprint back up the top 4 flights (2 steps at a time). Then I walk/jog all the way back down, and try to "jog" (although it often becomes almost a walk) up the 9 flights to the street (2 steps at a time). Then return to the bottom, and this is one "set."

I'm depressingly slow, but I hope that if I do this workout at least once a week (and at least 3 times in the last 2 years I've told myself I would do this!) it oughta get much better, and Really help build my leg strength, as well as provide a nice anaerobic workout. Right now, I'm trying to do at least 3 "sets," then maybe a few bonus sprints, or maybe even one or two trudges all the way up and back.

So i did this tonight, then came back home and went through a quick upper-body workout, with some dumbbell stuff, but mostly a lot of push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups.

I should really post a blog

ugh... bleayugh... guh... I don't feel like writing this long-winded disgruntled rant welling up in me...

I have found that it takes about 6.2 seconds of a phone call from a possible prospective employer for them to lose all interest in ever possibly hiring me.

If I don't have an imaginary friend, does that mean I don't have to play?

so who all hates Valentine's Day!!!??? Then you should like this

Props to Tad for sending that site my way

be sure to check out some other stuff, like the Demotivators.

So, I guess I'm off the hook for jury duty... and to be honest, I'm disappointed (or, as Perfect Circle would say "Its hard not to feel just a little bit disappointed, and passed over") Anywho, where was I... oh yeah, I got a phone call on Saturday, but I wasn't home and Greg tooka a message, then another one this morning. My guess: since this was a Civil Trial ("what's so civil about War anyway") they reached a last-minute out-of-court settlement, and thus calling in us 52 schmucks to select a jury was irrelevant -- but that's just a guess.

This irritates the hell out of me because I Just bought tickets for that game!

The weekend that Was

Sat morn I went Orienteering with Tyler up in Anacortes. I am so slow right now it is a bit demoralizing, but its still decent excercise and more interesting than just going for a jog.

Sat evening/night I headed down to T&A's for Angie's B-day festivities, and drink a bunch of beer with friends and act like a dork. I saw some people I rarely see, most particularly the prodigal ex-roommate from Western, Dan Studley. You can view the pics from that event here.

Today, after getting out of bed at a little after 11, then moving to the Couch and barely moving off it until nearly 2, I went to go see the Two Towers (L.o.t.R.) at Cinerama with the aforementioned T&A. Then we came back here to order some Thai food and watch the Simpsons. In the meantime, the Roommates were in the middle of brewing some beer, which is being finished up as I write this.
