Ambiguously Disgruntled Manifesto

wasting your time since 1975

The Joys of soccer.

Last night, my Tuesday night outdoor team only had seven (7) guys show up. The minimum you are alowed to field is seven (7), any less and you must forfeit. We decided to play it out, and we played really well given the situation, and I definitely got a lot of run in, but when we fell behind 4-0 late in the second half, we officially forfeited, which basically means we agreed to just call the game then. They weren't all that good, and it was a bit of a "moral victory" that we held them to 4 goals and even generated some scoring chances (and were robbed on a great save once). Tad was solid in the net for us, as our new "full-time" goalie.

Tonight. My indoor team won 8-6, and we gave them a couple of their goals. It shouldn't have been that close. I didn't have my "A" game, and I'm a little frustrated about how I played, but all that matters is we won, I suppose. I was hacked down pretty viciously midway through the second half, and I threw a bit of a tantrum and went after the guy a bit. I didn't throw a punch or anything, i just sort of grabbed him and screamed at him, but it got me a two-minute penalty. He got one, of course, for the foul. I can just be a bit of a hothead, I guess.

I sure hope the weather is like this for the weekend

I have some catching up to do with the blogging; I have been putting my efforts into switching my site over to the new host and domain, and designing pages (which still need work). I am really irritated the pictures from the old host (before today) in P.O.D. aren't showing up. I blame Geocities!

So, I'll start with Saturday night, when Tyler, Angie, Troy, DanG, Greg, Furious George, and myself headed up to Vancouver B.C. for a Canucks game. The Canuckle-heads are invlolved in a tight playoff race for the last spot in the tough Western Conference, and any loss from here out signifigantly cuts their chances of advancing. Luckily, they played host to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks (aka Mighty Sucks, Really Sucks, Stupid Fucks, or Geo-ducks) who are in their traditional basement position in the standings (looking down on only Columbus, in their second year of existence).

The C-nucks won, actually quite handily, 4-1, but as usual, there was SO MUCH more to the excursion than the game.

We left Wallingford at about 12:15 and headed north in my 'rents Dodge Caravan. The border crossing was smooth, despite the fact that two of us (I'm not going to single them out, but let's just refer to them as, uhhh... D and G) didn't have passports OR birth certificates.

After driving in circles, we parked the van in a somewhat centrally located garage (the largest damn parking garage I've ever seen, btw) and traipsed up to the lively Robson Street portion of town. There we settled into Mahoney's Bar and Grill and enjoyed beer and lunch-dinner. From there we headed for the Virgin Megastore, which has as close to a comprehensive selection of CD's and DCD's as you will find in any brick-and mortar store, and some of us bought stuff.

The, we headed for lovely GM Place for the game. After the game, we just headed straight home, since most of us had Easter crap the next day.

Sunday, of course, was Easter, and I went to Chehalis with the 'rents (again the the Dodge Caravan) for the family thing.

woo-hoo, and welcome to ambig-dis.com
